Memorials & Donations
Normandy Allies has received donations from persons who wish to honor a friend or loved one. We want to express our sincere thanks to these donors by having a special place to honor their brave friend or relative, who answered the call five decades ago. Here you can view the names of those persons and units our donors wish to honor. We are privileged to share these with you.
White Stone, Red Rocks at Colleville-sur-Mer
Thousands of chiseled white crosses sit atop the plateau.
Below is the expanse of sand, scrub and stones that are the beaches of Normandy.
Blood on the rocks, Blood in the sand, Blood in the trees.
The sea has bathed the beach,
The rain has washed the trees.
But the rocks are stained deep red, still, after fifty years.
The tears of those left behind bleach white the crosses on the hill,
The aura of men’s souls and a drop of their blood
Is there in the stones below,
At the waters edge, on the beach at Colleville-sur-Mer
I am fortunate to walk this unearthly space as a free man
It is well that it is raining,
That others here will not know I am weeping
